The Rod Lab
A custom rod shop’s whole workflow, from first email to build sheet.
For DWC, in production
A custom rod shop’s whole workflow in one place: customer requests, quotes, build sheets, and a parts library that remembers where every spec came from. We built it for DWC in five weeks, and it is in production at their shop.
What it does
A custom rod shop's whole workflow in one place: customer requests, quotes, build sheets, and a parts library that remembers where every specification came from.
How it works
The review workflow lives in the database rather than the app. Six staff roles, publisher-only commits, and finalized rows made immutable by trigger. Spreadsheet imports stage every row first, keep a receipt of what was applied, and roll back cleanly if the data was wrong.
The hard parts
Making imports genuinely reversible, so a bad workbook cannot poison the library. Enforcing the review gates in SQL, where they cannot be bypassed by a new screen.
Built with
Next.js 16 and Supabase: 56 tables, 134 row-level security policies, 73 migrations, 50 database tests and Playwright on top. 608 commits in five weeks.
